Tag You're It

I've been tagged by my friend Bob down in Austin to reveal five things about myself that people are unlikely to know and to "pass" it on.  Funny the "games" that go around the internet.  However, I'm game to play :)  So here's my list:

Vineyard

  • I think hats are fun and have a bit of a hat fetish.  I own probably around 40 hats and love opportunities to wear them.  The downside is hat head, however since I have lots of somewhat uncontrollable curly hair, you can't really tell that much on me ;)
  • I had iron straight hair as a child.  Oddly when I hit my teenage years it went curly, which I did everything I could to try to tame.  I now love how low maintenance it is -- I wash it and that's it!  No curling, blow drying, etc...
  • A couple years ago I had a pet Japanese fighting fish, Jollymore.  (He was the centerpiece at a wedding I attended for friends of Rich's, who's last name is Jollymore). I rather unexpectedly became very attached to him and was upset when he died 7 months later.
  • I can pick 50 buckets of blueberries a day.  I spent every summer of my childhood in the Maritimes at my family's blueberry farm in Nova Scotia.  Not surprisingly, I am quite adept at cooking with blueberries.  They're great on fish, in salads, pies, crisp, with ice cream, on cereal.  Pretty much any meal is better with blueberries :)
  • I'm a "daughter of the empire".  My ancestors were United Empire Loyalists during the American Revolutionary War and fled the US after the war for Canada after the British lost.  For their loyalty to the king they were given over 600 acres of land in rural Nova Scotia (which is now a blueberry farm).
  • Okay one more for fun -- I can run the mile in 5 minutes and 21 seconds.  Let me rephrase that, I used to be able to run the mile in 5 minutes and 21 seconds.  I competed in middle distance racing in grade school, high school, and college.  I now would be hard pressed to make it under 7 minutes!

Now it's you're turn:  Tim, Dick, and Zach...
