No Boundaries

Fatto in Italia

*Blush* it's been way too long since I've done an update. This month's meeting theme is rather broad and is simply wines of Italy.  We've only just scratched the surface of this incredible country previously with two Italian themed tastings previously, Amarone and Chianti and Nebbiolo.  Would love to do a Sicilian night!  Maybe in the new year :)

Italian-wine-map One of the oldest wine producing countries in the world, Italy has 20 wine regions with 300 zones officially classified as Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) or their highest classification, the (DOCG) Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita.  Adding to the complexity are the 350 varietals having "authorized" status and over 500 wine grapes that are planted throughout the country!  More to come once I know what wines we're tasting...

FYI, we're meeting in North Van at David and Mandy's home and am very much looking forward to tasting some of Paul's incredible portfolio of Italian wines!
